Acting Out-Tough Topics |
| Using dramas in your group accomplishes two goals. One, it communicates a message in a way thatâs less âpreachy,â so students might be more likely to listen in. Secondly, it involves your students in the ministry, giving them ownership over the program. This type of involvement is key to developing a core group of student leaders. To help meet these two goalsâand to help add some more fun to ministryâwe commissioned some dramas. The Acting Out series skits focus in on certain topics that youth leaders have told us are important to them. Actually, weâve just always wanted to âcommissionâ something and this seemed like as good a reason as any. These two humorous and one dramatic skit focus on Tough Topics. What do you do with the unsaid when someone dies? Can a gay guy come to church? And you did not just say what I think you said about women!Acting OutâTough Topics skits: Lost in a Loss: A dramatic look at the loss of a parent, specifically dealing with the loss of a father-in-law. (For two males) The Mixer: What about⦠you know⦠the gay guy? (For two males) Preach it Brother? Hell hath no fury. Trust us. (For six peopleâ3 males, 3 females) Get your students involved in fun, low risk activities. Along the way they just might learn something. |
